Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in both surface and deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues and is used to treat muscular-skeletal disorders. The work is intense and focused on problem areas with the goal of breaking adhesion in muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia to relieve pain and restore normal movement, range of motion, and function. Deep tissue massage is especially recommended for individuals suffering from chronic pain, physical and repetitive strain injuries, postural problems, and limited mobility. HOT STONE MASSAGE

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated river stones as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body. The heat from the stones helps your muscles relax, allowing the massage therapist to manipulate your deep tissues more effectively. Overly tense muscles can hinder the massage procedure, so if your muscles are extremely tight or stiff, the heated stones may provide the extra relaxation you need for the massage to be beneficial in releasing tension and easing sore muscles. Individuals with certain conditions–including pregnant women and people with high blood pressure–are advised to avoid this type of therapy.Jenny-Lynn Falman, LMT, CMLDT

DISTANT REIKI

What is Distant Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Think of life force energy as billions of tiny particles that move faster than any speed we can record and which holds all things together. It knows no bounds of time or space; therefore, it can be directed through time and space, much like electricity.
Distant Reiki works the same as a face-to-face Reiki session except that the person receiving Reiki is not in the same room. Remember that Reiki is precisely directed energy. In Distant Reiki, it is the practitioner’s focus and intent to send the energy to the client, and that person’s willingness to receive it, that makes it work.

How Does A Distant Session Work?
The client contacts the practitioner directly to book and pre-pay for the session. The practitioner might ask for a picture of the client, although this is not necessary.
Five to ten minutes before the appointed time, the practitioner will phone the client to make sure they are ready and ask them what their specific healing requests are for the session and then end the call to begin the Reiki session.
At this time, the client should be sitting or lying down in a quiet comfortable place, so as not to be disturbed for the length of the session. Although it is not necessary, feel free to set the mood in your space, such as low lights and soft, soothing music. Separate yourself from all potential interruptions, i.e., cells phones and two and four legged loved ones. Set a gentle timer that will arouse you when your 30 or 60 minute session is done.
The practitioner prepares for the session in the same manner as for a face-to-face treatment. This involves clearing the healing space of any unwanted energy. The Reiki energy is then directed to similar positions on the client’s body that are treated during a face-to-face session. The effects of distant Reiki are just as profound as those experienced in a face-to-face session.

What Happens After The Session?
When the session is complete, take a few moments before getting up and moving about. Open your eyes and become readjusted to your surroundings. Drink some water and await the follow-up call from your Reiki Practitioner.

Follow-Up Call
A few minutes after the session is complete, the practitioner will phone the client to share any feedback between the two and offer any suggestions. This service is provided by Heidi Waddell, KRMT Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher, and Tina Shifflett, RMT, IET Usui/Holy Fire III Reiki Master/Teacher.

INTEGRATED ENERGY THERAPY

Integrated Energy Therapy (IET) is a hands-on healing system which uses specific hand positions and acupressure to release past trauma, emotional pain and blocks in the chakra system and beyond. IET is a deeply relaxing experience similar to Reiki, but the healing energy, channeled directly from the Angels, goes deeper into the client’s auric field where it targets emotions stored in the cellular memory. As the Angels and the practitioner work on the client, these deeply stored emotions are released to the Light to be transmuted to Love by the Divine. This service is provided by Tina Shifflett, RMT, IET
