Tricia Reyburn, E-RYT 500, Founder and Owner

Tricia Reyburn is the owner and director of Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts, LLC, established in 2004. After dealing with the symptoms of of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus, Tricia decided to explore the field of natural healing. She took her first yoga class in 1995, at a time when she was looking for new direction in her life.Through the years, Tricia explored different types of yoga and yoga teachers and has found her niche in an alignment-based practice. She received her first yoga certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in 2000 and was certified Anusara-Inspired in 2009. Although based in alignment, Tricia’s classes range from challenging to slow and contemplative. She shares from everyday life experiences and relates them to the highest teachings of yoga. Tricia believes that yoga is an empowering practice that can help anyone advance on their path to self-knowledge. It is not important the level of poses that one achieves, but rather the attitude one cultivates wherever they find themselves.  Tricia is also certified through the Lotus Palm School for Thai Yoga Therapy and is a certified Holy Fire II Karuna Reiki Master Teacher. Currently, she is enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition‘s health coaching program. She lives in Waterford with her love, Charlie & famously peaceful cat, Pax.

Rosann Anzellotti, CYT-200

Rosann first tried yoga at age 40-something where she begrudgingly went at a friend’s insistence.  During that first class she immediately experienced the transformative power that pausing, breathing, and moving mindfully had on her whole being. She is a scientist, and her analytical nature compelled her to learn more about how this ancient practice had such power to transform her physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  In 2017, she received training and a 200-hour yoga teacher certificate from Blissworks Yoga School.  With a desire to serve those struggling with effects from trauma and stress so prevalent today, Rosann received additional training and certifications in the Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR), Level 1 Trauma Informed Yoga (TIYT™), and Yoga for Addiction Recovery (Yoga Medicine®). She is currently investigating this ancient practice deeper as a student in the 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training with special focus on yoga therapeutics at Blissworks Yoga School. Rosann’s intention is to hold compassionate space for students to experience the peace, contentment, and healing these teachings and practices can provide in their daily lives. 

 

Sue Bernier, CYT-200

Since completing my certification in 2013 at Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts it has been a privilege to share my love of Yoga and meditation teaching at Blissworks and the Westerly YMCA. My classes focus on alignment principles and pranayama along with introducing a theme and closing class with meditation. I bring awareness to the benefits of moving with awareness in each asana, linking breath and movement. My goal is to teach that if we can slow down in the flow of Yoga we can also bring this into our day to day lives creating balance and a greater sense of peace.

A love of the outdoors brings me to spending time by the shore or hiking in the mountains in Vermont. I share my beautiful life in Mystic with my husband Jim.

Dave Carlson, CYT-200

?I’ve been active all my life. From the time I was a kid I’ve been on the move, participating in wrestling, rugby, rock and ice climbing, mountain biking, tele skiing, and all sorts of other stuff. I found yoga, or it found me, in 2006. That first class I attended was an eye opener. It was during the middle of a rugby season, so I walked in thinking I was very fit. I barely made it through all the poses, and was sweating profusely. Touch my toes? I could barely get my hands to my knees when I bent forward. Since then, yoga has become more important to my physical health and emotional well-being than I could have ever imagined. Yoga has helped me stay in shape, and helped me become happier. I’m able to be present for my family in a meaningful way.
In 2013, I earned my 200 hr teaching certificate at Blissworks. I love teaching, and hope to provide an opportunity for others to discover the deep rewards a yoga practice can offer.

Sonya Cyr, CYT-200

Sonya 2017 014Sonya began her study of yoga in 2002 and was trained as a yoga instructor at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2006. She teaches the Kripalu method as well as Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Core classes. Sonya’s teaching is known for being clear and accessible. Students can expect a class that is equal parts skillful, challenging, sustainable and fulfilling.  In addition to being an experienced yoga instructor, Sonya teaches French and Spanish at the Norwich Free Academy where she designed the yoga program and enjoys engaging her students daily in the practice of mindfulness and the inquiry of yoga. Sonya lives in New London, Connecticut with her husband, Erik and son, Konrad.

Ken Law, CYT-200

Ken head shotKen brings 20 inspiring years of diverse practice and study of various yoga traditions to his yoga teaching along with a passion to share his experiences and knowledge with each student. Ken began his yoga journey in 1996 and practiced yoga (Kripalu, Ashtanga, and Power Vinyasa) for 6 years before becoming 200hr certified in 2002 from Kripalu.
He began teaching at Riverdog Yoga in Old Saybrook, CT while seeking out other practices; Ashtanga Yoga, Bikram Yoga on Maui; Baptiste Power Yoga in Cambridge; Partner Acrobatic Yoga in San Francisco; and a very extensive practice of Forrest Yoga in Boston and New Haven. Ken received an advanced teacher certificate from Ana Forrest in 2008. Over the years he has taught yoga and led workshops in CT, RI, Washington, and Mexico and offers a very unique blend of yoga styles- infusing pranyama, core strengthening, mindfulness, and play to encourage each student to find their middle path- the place in each pose that allows the body to let go.

Mike McAndrew, CYT-200

Mike was introduced to yoga in 1998 and immediately realized how much better he felt after each class.  And so his yoga journey began.  His daily practice led him to the desire to teach others and share the experience of yoga practice.blissworks and Mike 061

Mike received his 200 hour Hatha Yoga Certification with Anusara Yoga Teachers Todd Norian and Ann Greene in May 2012, and has since taught at The Westerly Community Yoga Center, Studio 4 and joined the Blissworks staff in 2015.

Lynn McCarthy, E-RYT 200

Lynn believes that Yoga is yet another way to serve. The practice of Yoga opens pathways of personal growth and gratitude that extends well beyond the mat.
Lynn holds a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology, certifications in Strength Training, Personal Training, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Health Coaching as well as completing a yoga certification in the Anusara tradition. Her love of anatomy will be woven throughout the practice encouraging awareness and acknowledging sensation.
For 38 years, Lynn has enjoyed her work in the field of exercise, health & wellness. As the cofounder of Angel Charities, has helped to support children with life altering burn injuries, and life threatening illness, raising over 6 million dollars.

Martin Moebus, CYT-200

Martin web headshotMartin started his journey many years ago as a “yoga surfer”, studying with a wide array of yoga instructors across the United States. He believes yoga is an essential practice for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In 2013 Martin received his 200 hour yoga teacher certification, and has since used his alignment-based teaching to help students to experience inner growth and joy in their practice and lives. Martin’s first goal in teaching is for his students to feel more deeply connected to their body, breath, and being in a way that is healthy and joyful. Along his journey, he found a singing bowl at a flea market. He soon started collecting singing bowls, ultimately using them as a focus for private meditation. While collecting bowls for some time, Martin has found that sharing the sound with others increases centering and focus and brings deeper relaxation. The bowls opened an entire new world of mediation that has led to the exploration of other meditation techniques.

Jenny Pinto, RYT-200

Jenny has been practicing yoga since 1997 and completed her 200 hour yogaJenny Pinto 2018 010 teacher certification in 2017 through Blissworks with Tricia Reyburn. Currently, she is completely her 300 hour yoga teacher training also through Blissworks with Tricia Reyburn and Karen O’Donnell Clarke. Jenny is grateful to be able to share her love and knowledge of yoga with her students and family. She believes it is important to practice yoga both on and off the mat and infuses these principles into her alignment based classes where postures are linked to breath in a gentle but challenging flow. Meditation and grounding work are also included as part of the experience. In addition to teaching yoga, Jenny is the Systems Developer for Mathematics at LEARN headquarters in Old Lyme and is a Holy Fire III Reiki Master Practitioner. Jenny has two amazing children and lives in Groton, CT.

Rachna Tewari, CYT-200

Rachna, originally from India, moved to the U.S. after marriage. She began practicing yoga as a teen inspired by her father, her first Guru, and has been passionate about yoga ever since. Her yogic journey began at the age of fifteen when her father enrolled her in a Yoga Camp offered by the Bihar School of Yoga. After moving to Pune, Maharashtra for her higher education, Rachna’s search landed her in the B.K.S Iyeangar Institute. Later she did Art of Living Level 1 course in Bangalore, India and the Level 1 Meditation course in the U.S. She travels back to India frequently and spends time with Master Teachers from various traditions.
In 2011Rachna felt inspired to share her passion of Yoga and became a 200 Certified Yoga Instructor through the teachings of Sid McNairy at the Mystic Yoga Shala’s Lifeline Power Yoga program. She is currently studying Ayurvedic Medicine under the Guidance of Dr Hari Pallathery, B.A.M.S., Former Trustee & Deputy Director at Arsha Yoga Vidya Peetam Trust, an education unit of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy. She acquired a Foundation Course in Yoga Science for Wellness conducted by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, India in December of 2013. In addition, Rachna has worked as a consultant in Human Resource’s after finishing her Management studies in Human Resource’s.
With her daughter as her inspiration, Rachna is excited to share this transformative and empowering practice of Yoga to develop inner peace with you. She believes with awareness synchronizing movement with breath, the flow created is truly liberating to the body, mind, and heart. This creates a space to express oneself to our fullest potential both on off the mat.

Michelle Vanase, RYT-200

Michelle began practicing yoga after the birth of her children in 2005. Seeking a means to physical health and stress relief as a working mother of twin boys, she quickly learned that there was a lot more to yoga than just exercise.  A lifelong journey of study began, leading to completion of her 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2015.  She is currently enrolled in Blissworks’ 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training program, due to graduate in 2021.

Michelle loves the powerful inward journey we take every time we step onto our yoga mats and how we take that personal transformation out of the studio and into the world.  Her classes focus heavily on mindfulness, breathing, yoga philosophy and self study.  She has a special interest in yoga for stress and anxiety and has taught many workshops in that space.  Having completed training in children’s yoga and having taught yoga in schools for years, she has a special love of mentoring young yogis.  

Michelle lives happily in Norwich with her family and a bunch of cats and dogs.  In her spare time, she is involved with greyhound adoption.  She loves spending time in nature, reading, cooking, drinking tea and eating chocolate.

Heidi Waddell, E-RYT 200

Heidi has been practicing yoga since 1999 after suffering from a serious back injury. Through her yoga practice she regained her strength and mobility and soon discovered that yoga had so much more to offer than just the physical aspects. In 2004 she began as an instructor for River Yoga in Westerly, Rhode Island and has since taught at Mystic Yoga Shala and Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts. She received her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Vinyasa Teacher certification from The Rolf Gates School of Yoga, a 75 hour certification with Karen O’Donnell Clarke in Therapeutic Yoga, a 16 hour certification in Yoga for Teens from Christy Brock, the founder of Yoga Minded and a Yin Yoga certification from teacher Liza Dousson. In addition to Heidi’s yoga practice, she has also received the teachings of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche at Karme Choling, a Buddhist Meditation Center in Barnet, Vermont and is a Registered Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® Master/Teacher. Heidi resides in Stonington, Connecticut with her loving husband and fellow yogi, David, and has three children. As a yoga teacher, Heidi likes to incorporate both the physical and the metaphysical qualities of a yoga practice into her classes. She truly believes that everyone can benefit from yoga and encourages her students to explore a wide range of asanas, while tossing in an occasional meditation, pranayama or chant. Her goal is to guide others toward self-knowing and ultimate contentment, so that what we learn on the mat is something we carry within us wherever we go. Rebecca Wilson, RYT-200Rebecca Wilson web headshot

Rebecca’s passion for conscious movement began with dance during her teen years and was further fueled by her first yoga instruction in her early twenties. In 2008, she became a licensed massage therapist and currently has a successful practice. In 2015, Rebecca traveled to Ibiza, Spain to complete a Sivananda Hatha yoga 200-hour certification. Since then, she has also received a 25 hour certification in Yin Yoga from Debbie Daly and a 25 hour certification in Chair Yoga from Karen O’Donnell Clarke, as well as explored workshops with Tias Little, and Rodney Yee.
As a massage therapist, she has always valued helping others connect with their physical self and now as a yoga instructor has even more tools to enhance this ability. She is continually humbled by the power of asanas (postures) and meditation, and regards these practices as invaluable–aiding in connecting to the core, creating resolutions, and paving a clear path for the Self. On a sunny morning, you might see her on a yoga mat on her front porch in New London, practicing what has become an integral part of her life.

Gretchen Zoll, RYT-500, RPYT

It is truly an honor and privilege to share my love of yoga and its benefits with others by safely and compassionately guiding students through a well-balanced asana practice, instructing proper alignment, and linking breath with movement. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to teach yoga in California, Florida, Virginia, and now Connecticut, where I live with my husband and two daughters. I am primarily a student of yoga, and began practicing in 2002 to help manage stress and anxiety I experienced after my brother was involved in a serious automobile accident. Yoga has been such a blessing in my life, and my practice has helped me connect with my true Self and live with more love, compassion, faith, and joy. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2010, I decided I wanted to share this gift with others. I completed 500 hours of teacher training with YogaWorks and began teaching there. During that time, I was fortunate to study with renowned teachers including Maty Ezraty, co-founder of YogaWorks, Jane Austin (90 hours of Prenatal Training Level 1 and 2 to become a certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher), Judith Hanson Lasater (50 hours of Restorative Yoga Training Level 1 and 2 to become a Relax and Renew® Advanced Trainer) and my current teacher, Gary Kraftsow, founder of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI). I began my 500-hour Viniyoga Foundations Program in 2016, and I plan to begin Yoga Therapist Training with AVI in 2020.

Tricia Reyburn, the owner of Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts, first began exploring alternative medicine over 20 years ago. Her first experience with Reiki had a profound effect upon her and made her want to share the benefits with others. She became a Reiki Master in 1999 and has used this art of healing every day since! Tricia believes Reiki is a powerful and positive hands-on healing technique that helps spread peace in the world and has again begun leading Reiki certification classes to help others open to their healing potential. Jaclyn Berry, LMT

Jaclyn Berry has been a certified massage therapist for 7 years after graduating in 2012 from Ridley-Lowell Business and Technical Institute in New London, CT. Since then, she has worked at multiple spas throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. Jaclyn is trained in Thai Yoga Massage through Rob Martin, LMT, BCSI. She is also a Level II Reiki Practitioner certified in Kundalini Reiki with attunement from Paula Goldman.

Jaclyn has a soft yet strong touch that caters to the needs of her clients. With her ability to engage in each persons energy field, she provides a consistently fluid massage with different modalities and strokes to release tension and stress from the body and mind. Jenny Lynn Falman, LMT, CMLDT

Jenny Lynn graduated from a 2 year Therapeutic Massage program at CCMT in 2010, staff 3.2017 044and shortly after that began her practice at the Center for Healing Therapies in Waterford, CT. In 2013 she earned a certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (The Vodder Technique) through Klose Training and Consulting out of Colorado. It was there that Jenny Lynn gained knowledge of all aspects of the Lymphatic System and the powerful role it plays in our overall health and well being. Around the same time, she developed a keen interest and passion for TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and found herself studying and working with Marc Mastrandra, LAC at the Po Chi Lam Chinese Medicine Clinic in New London. Amy Jones, LMT

Amy JonesAmy Jones is a licensed Massage Therapist in her 8th year of practice. She graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy (CCMT) in December of 2005, and has worked continuously in the field ever since. She holds additional certifications in Reflexology and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Her natural interest in Anatomy and Biology led her to explore Massage Therapy, where she discovered the numerous health benefits provided by human touch, including- increased circulation, reduced stress, easing joint stiffness, pain relief, improved sleep, and general calming and relaxing of the mind and body. Tina Shifflett, RMT, IET

Tina Shifflett is a Reiki Master/Teacher of the Usui tradition and a Certified Advanced Level Integrated Energy Therapist (IET). She received both her Level I and II Reiki training and attunement from Reiki Master/Teacher Matthew Ferrar in April and July of 2012, and her Level III and Master Teacher training from Jamie Lee of New London, CT in October 2013. Tina also pursued her training and Basic Level IET attunement to the violet angelic ray from Heidi Gabrilowitz of Cranston, RI, in March 2012 followed by Intermediate Level and training in June of the same year. It didn’t take long for Tina to intuitively realize that this “work” would be part of her life’s purpose and future journey and went on to obtain the Advanced Level of IET in August 2014.
In late 2013, Tina began to receive clients at the New London Healing Arts Center for approximately one year where at that time developed her business Vital Vibrations Energy Therapy. Since then, she has also provided Reiki and IET therapy at Irie Yoga in Stonington, CT, out of her home in Mystic, CT and in the spring of 2017, joined the staff at Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts in New London, CT.

Heidi Waddell, KRMT

bliss-photo-headshop-1Heidi received her first Reiki Master Teacher certification from Reiki Master Andrew DiLeo of Oak Star Ministries in 2016 under the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition, and in 2018/2019 became a Registered Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® Master Teacher through teacher William Lee Rand. She is an Affiliate member of the Reiki Membership Association. Heidi has been using the healing energy of Reiki on clients, animals, places, and for long distance treatments with effective results since 2015. Heidi enjoys providing her clients with the ability to find unity and harmony with the universe where we can once again feel whole and healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
